Irish Crochet Roses Heart by LaceCrochet on Flickr

Slight variation of “Rose Heart Sachet” from Woman’s Day Granny Squares No 8. The bottom rose in the photo has nine petals around the edge, instead of the eight petals called for in the pattern.  Woman’s Day Magazine has allowed Lace Crochet to post the crochet instructions for this heart. They are here in this flickr photo set:www.flickr.com/photos/39648301@N02/sets/72157629751107576/

Q:Hi. I heard thrift stores are good places to buy yarn. Is this true?.-.

Hello, and thanks for your question.  I don’t know about every thrift store, but I’ve certainly got some great bulk yarn (random yarn all stuffed together in a bag) deals for around $1 at thrift stores and/or junk markets.  It’s normally from a cute little old lady who seems to be de-stashing.  You might get an odd mix of yarn, but this can be great for adding to your own stash, or for making a scrappy afghan.  Also fun just to see what’s in the bag!  Totally worth checking out!

Thanks for visiting,

Claire x
